My Story

As a passionate musician and dedicated music educator of the trans experience, I've always believed in the power of music to create spaces where individuals like myself can express themselves authentically and make beautiful melodies without the constraints of societal norms.

My journey in music education began at Lee University, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Music Teacher Education. From there, I embarked on a fulfilling career, first as the Director of Bands and General Music at United Christian Academy, and later as a Choir Director with the Hamilton County Department of Education.

During my tenure in these roles, I've always strived to pioneer innovative approaches to music education, seeking to enrich the curriculum and provide students with unique musical experiences. Whether it was editing and premiering performance videos or creating original modern band classes, my aim has been to inspire and motivate students while fostering a deep appreciation for music.

Now, as the Director of the Alphabet Chorus, a program of the Black Rainbow Movement, I continue to champion inclusivity and diversity in the world of music. Through this platform, I aim to create a safe and welcoming space where individuals from all walks of life, especially those within the LGBTQ+ community, can come together to express themselves through the power of song.

At the heart of my work lies a commitment to breaking down barriers and empowering individuals to embrace their true selves. I firmly believe that music has the ability to transcend boundaries and unite us all, and I am dedicated to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to raise their voice and be heard.
