This organization is founded to create solutions to the needs of people of color that live at the intersection of queerness and race. Black Rainbow Movement intends to engage with this community, create spaces for them to celebrate their truths and experiences, be a monument to their history, and above all let them know they matter, have a voice, and that people like them can and do make an impact. We plan on doing this by bringing art and cultural exchanges of queer POC origins to the area and contributing to their establishment and perpetuation. For example; Vogue Ballroom, POC Drag Pageants, Film & Music Festivals, and more. As well as being a hub resources for youth mentorship and development, job placement, resume building, and residential placement.
The Black Rainbow Movement has proudly
organized six vogue ballroom events along with
a comprehensive workshop, distributing over $3,600 in prize money to our exceptional participants. Our unwavering dedication to our mission, celebrating the societal, academic, and artistic contributions of queer people of color, is evident in the success of our vogue events, which stand as our most dynamic and rapidly expanding program.
None of this progress would have been possible without the continued support of individuals like you. That's why we're reaching out and asking for your contribution to our fundraiser, aimed at elevating our next ball to new heights. We aim to host the upcoming event at the prestigious Chattanooga Convention Center, echoing the grandeur of our New Year's Ball experience. The previous event incurred costs totaling $522.78, encompassing building rental, electrical needs, equipment setup, and refreshments.
For the forthcoming event, we aspire to secure a slightly larger venue space within the convention center. Additionally, while security was graciously provided at no cost previously, we anticipate expenses moving forward. Hiring an off-duty officer for additional security will cost $50.00 per hour, with a minimum requirement of four hours. Moreover, we plan to enhance the event with a designated DJ, atmospheric lighting, and themed décor. Here's the quoted cost for the Venue provided by the convention center:
$450 - Rental

$200 - Bar - 4 hours
$220 - Security - $55 per hour with 4 hour minimum
$00 - Registration table - Complimentary
$8 - Table for Judges added 9.25% tax
$4 - Cloth added 9.25% tax

Our fundraising goal is $900, and this doesn't even cover the prizes! Vogue ballroom events are not just performances; they are expressions of art, lifestyle, and culture deserving of our utmost dedication. Across the globe, these events foster community, nurture creative excellence, and provide safe spaces for queer people of color.
